How we score plans

The "Compario Score" (★ from 1 to 5) is an editorial score computed automatically — not an average of user reviews. It measures a plan's quantity-per-dollar value relative to the other plans in the same category.

The method

For each category we pick one measurable metric from the data published by providers:

  • Cell phone and eSIM: gigabytes (GB) per dollar per month. "Unlimited" data counts as 100 GB. The promo price is used when there is one.
  • Internet: megabits per second (Mbps) per dollar.
  • TV: number of channels per dollar.
  • Banking: included transactions per dollar of monthly fees (unlimited transactions count as 60).

Plans are then compared within their category: the best ratio gets 5, the worst gets 1, and the rest are distributed proportionally in between.

Why some categories have no score

Credit cards, rewards, streaming, VPN and credit score have no honest comparable metric: the Netflix catalogue can't be measured against Disney+, and "cheapest" isn't "best". Rather than showing a misleading score, we show none.

What the score doesn't measure

Network quality, coverage, customer service and hidden conditions are not part of the calculation. The score answers a single question: "how much do you get for your money?" — read it alongside the rest of the table.

Independence

The same formula applies to every provider, whether or not we have an affiliate relationship with them, and default sorting stays by ascending price. Scores recompute whenever prices are updated. See our affiliate disclosure.
